Biography
About Dr. Wei
Dr. David H. Wei is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and fellowship-trained specialist in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery. He practices at his current institution in Greenwich, CT and Harrison, NY, where he has served patients since 2015.
Dr. Wei completed his undergraduate and graduate training at Yale University (BS/MS, Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa) in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry, followed by his medical degree at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. During medical school, he was selected as a Doris Duke Clinical Research Fellow, conducting orthopaedic research under Dr. Melvin P. Rosenwasser. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Columbia University Medical Center / New York-Presbyterian Hospital, followed by fellowship training in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery at Tufts University Medical Center / New England Baptist Hospital in Boston.
Dr. Wei is the first surgeon in Connecticut — and among a select few in the greater New York area — to offer ultrasound-guided carpal tunnel release using the Sonex Health UltraGuideCTR™ system. He has authored 14 peer-reviewed publications, 4 book chapters, and 1 peer-reviewed video publication, with work appearing in The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, The Journal of Hand Surgery, JAAOS, and Hand Clinics.
Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Wei serves as Chief Clinical Informatics Officer at his institution and as Medical Director of Orthopedics at ModMed, where he helped design and develop ModMed Scribe 2.0 — an AI-powered documentation system for orthopaedic surgeons. He is the Host and Executive Producer of the Hand-P Podcast, the official podcast of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, which he has hosted since 2020.
Dr. Wei treats both adult and pediatric patients and is fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese.
